This department is staffed by qualified, experienced individuals who ensure that all of the assays are run under strict quality control systems. The various automated chemistry analyzers are linked to the Schuyler LIS system which ensures that various transcription errors are eliminated.
In this department we perform the common assays that determine how the body’s organs function. Some of these include the complete Lipid profile (Total Cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterols, VLDL, Triglycerides, and the Risk ratio). The Liver and Kidney function tests. Cardiac enzymes work up to monitor whether someone might have experienced a heart attack .The electrolytes are also an important test offered in this department.
Fasting is required whenever testing the lipid profiles: it is suggested that one fasts for about 12 hours prior to taking the test. A sip of water is allowed but nothing else by mouth should be taken. This is important because if food is taken it tends to alter the readings of the values, thus resulting in erroneous findings. A complete report is usually given at the end of the same day tests are taken.
Tests not done locally are outsourced to our counterparts in the USA.
